A fall furnace tune-up and a spring AC tune-up prevent most breakdowns. Book before the first freeze to beat the rush.
A yearly tune-up is the simplest way to avoid a breakdown on the coldest night of the year. We service furnaces and boilers in the fall and air conditioners in the spring. A furnace tune-up includes cleaning the burners and flame sensor, checking the igniter, testing the safety switches, measuring gas pressure and checking the venting. We also look for signs of carbon monoxide risk, such as rust, soot or a cracked heat exchanger.
An AC tune-up includes cleaning the outdoor coil, checking the refrigerant charge, testing the capacitor and contactor, flushing the condensate drain and checking the airflow. In Detroit, coils pick up a lot of leaves, seeds and city dust, and a clean coil runs cooler and uses less power. We also replace the filter or show you the right size so you can change it yourself.
We are a participating contractor with the DTE Energy and Consumers Energy rebate programs, and both utilities have offered tune-up rebates when a participating contractor does the work. The current rules and amounts are set by the utility, so we check what applies when we book the visit. You get a short report on what we found and anything that needs attention, with a price before any repair.
